Company:
Rand McNally, the most trusted name on the map, is an industry leader in the mapping, routing, geographic reference, and trip-planning tool marketplace.
Challenge:
Rand McNally wanted to create a new technology service for educators that provided a complete, interactive “one stop resource” for teaching K-12 classrooms.
In order to leverage Rand McNally’s expertise and differentiate themselves in the market, they needed to optimize content, address navigational issues, and create templates that could accommodate different visual elements and content types due to the broad range of users, their skill level, and age range.
Solution:
Rand McNally Classroom was created as an interactive web-based resource that makes using maps and atlases fun and interesting for the whole class.
The solution provides online maps and geographic resources along with a variety of lesson plans, classroom activities, and online games, all designed to engage students and reinforce skills.
Impact:
Rand McNally Classroom is a huge success and continues to reach new audiences, providing new revenue for the company.
Maps have moved online and technology is making them much easier to teach and use, and much more fun!!
It’s innovative approach has won several industry accolades, including:
- 2008 Finalist, SIAA Codie Awards
- 2007 Finalist, Golden Lamp Award, Association of Educational Publishers
- Multimedia & Internet Schools, 5-Star product (based on installation, content/features, ease of use and product support)
