Pathfinder Helps Fortune 50 Investment Bank Improve Operational Efficiency
Challenge:
The client, a Global 100 Investment Bank with over 22,000 employees on six continents, wanted to create a better-educated organization. Knowledge, it learned, needed to be shared across the entire organization worldwide in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations. The firm identified several specific problem areas: inefficient capture of and access to information, uncertainty about reliability and completeness of information, a lack of well-defined responsibility for business processes and information, and difficulty in fielding and managing distributed teams.
Solution:
Pathfinder collaborated with Diamond Management and Technology Consultants to implement a corporate desktop and knowledge management solution, with Pathfinder providing technical architecture, development and design, and Diamond providing business process reengineering, business analysis and change management. Technology utilized included Vignette Portal Server, Open Text Livelink, internally developed IIS plugin for single sign-on, Sybase and Oracle databases, and the integration of numerous applications and data feeds.
Impact:
The initial pilot project was for Market Data Services, with 200 employees distributed worldwide. The pilot was a success, and the results of the pilot were incorporated into the larger rollout to 22,000 professionals worldwide.
