Pathfinder Helps Jumpstart an Educational Reform Project in the Persian Gulf
Challenge:
In an Arabic Gulf State, Pathfinder’s client, a large Research and Data Analysis firm was engaged to collect data for a national education reform project. Our client knew that there would be additional challenges beyond traditional census/field data collection. There were many other things they could do to make the education reform project a success, but in order to do so, they needed to articulate a vision that the country’s government would embrace.
Solution:
The client worked with Pathfinder on a 3 week solution blueprint process that articulated a vision and roadmap for an ecosystem to support educational reform.

The vision included portals for disseminating information to teachers, students and their parents, applications for researchers, statisticians and the education ministry, as well as tracking and logistics applications for the administration of standardized tests. As part of this process, pathfinder provided business concept illustrations and visualizations of a number of these applications, both in English and Arabic.
Impact:
At the end of the blueprint process, the concepts were presented to the government and were enthusiastically embraced. What began as a $20 million project became a multiyear $100 million project of which Pathfinder was an integral part, including user research and development of numerous applications in English and Arabic, including a series of Portals, Data Warehouse and Analytics/BI tools, as well as data collection and test tracking.
See the Test Tracking Logistics and Field Data Collection case studies for more details on specific sub-projects.
